These were the words Gretchen Barretto used in describing her latest character Amanda Bien in the upcoming film “The Trial.”
Gretchen hid the classy side of her personality, so she could give justice to her character who is a developmental psychologist who will help Ronald (John Lloyd Cruz) on his trial.
“I play a developmental psychologist in this movie. My role is very simple here hindi ako fashionista,” says Gretchen. “Totoong
tao, na may totoong problema, may puso nasasaktan, may pinaglalaban.
Pinaglalaban ko na manatiling buong ang pamilya namin no matter what the trial is.”
Amanda is wife of the lawyer Julian Bien (Richard Gomez) and the mother of Martin (Enrique Gil). The Bien family will be one of Ronald’s pillars of strength amidst the controversy he unwittingly put himself to.
“I can say that this project is a masterpiece for all of us,” adds Gretchen. “I was really flattered and in awe that they offered me this movie.”
“The Trial” revolves around Ronald (John Lloyd), a mentally challenged guy, who was put into trial after allegedly raping his teacher named Bessy (Jessy).
The film, helmed by the acclaimed director Chito Rono, will be the film outfit’s culminating film for its 20th anniversary. It also stars Gretchen Barretto, Richard Gomez, Jessy Mendiola, Enrique Gil, Sylvia Sanchez, Vince de Jesus, among others.
