Veteran and Newbie Singers to Lead TV5's New Musical Series.

Three generations of singers will come together to breathe life to TV5’s first ever light comedy-drama-musical Trenderas.

Aspiring singer-composer Lara Maigue, former child actress Isabelle de Leon, and Internet singing sensation Katherine Velarde a.k.a. Suklay Diva all play the title role in the musical series about singing tinderas who trended online.

This young cast is supported by veteran singers Sheryl Cruz and Tina Paner, who play rivals for Dingdong Avanzado’s affection. It’s the first time that the three stars will reunite in a series since their That’s Entertainment days in the ‘80s.

To top it all, the one and only superstar Nora Aunor makes her grand acting and singing comeback to TV5 primetime via this ambitious project partly inspired by Glee.

“I’m very excited about this new show. Maraming music na maririnig ang mga viewers. Mas makaka-relate ang youth because they’re very into singing and dancing,” Sheryl shared in the show’s story conference.

Tina is likewise excited to be working again with Sheryl, both of whom were members of the kiddie singing group Triplets along with their childhood friend Manilyn Reynes.

Usually ang roles ko kasi pa-sweet, mabait. This time naman medyo bad ako dahil nga magkaribal kami dito ni Sheryl,” the “Tamis ng Unang Halik” singer explains.

The series is also the first big project of Suklay Diva, who rose to Youtube fame for belting out tunes with a comb as her substitute mic in her videos.

“Grabe, sobrang nakaka-proud! Nae-excite ako, di ako makapaniwala! Wala pa naman akong experience sa pag-arte talaga,” exclaimed the Beyonce and Regine Velasquez fan.

UP College of Music student Lara, who also wrote and sang For Love or Money’s theme song “Sa ‘Yo Na Lang Ako”, is also nervous and excited on her first acting project. When asked what makes her different from her co-singers, the classically-trained singer answers:

“I really look up to singers who can belt it out. Pero ako kasi, the songs I write, they’re anti-birit, ‘cause that’s how I sing. It’s really my soprano voice that makes me different.”

Completing the rest of the star-studded cast are Leo Martinez, Carl Guevarra, Gerard Sison, and another That’s Entertainment alumna, Francine Prieto. Asked if she is open to doing song numbers as well, the sexy star jokes, "Why not? Ang tanong: kaya ba ng audience?”

For sure, Kapatid viewers are ready for this high-pitched musical that's going to jazz up your primetime soon on TV5!
