A "balikbayan" became the first member of Team Lea as he showed off his singing talent on the blind auditions of the second season of "The Voice of the Philippines."
Timmy Pavino, 24, came back to the Philippines from Seattle, Washington to take care of his grandmother.
During the show's pilot episode on Sunday, Pavino sang Martin Nievera's "You Are My Song," which made three of the four coaches turn for him. Only coach apl.de.ap did not turn for Pavino.
"Timmy, everything na hinahanap ko sa isang singer, nasa 'yo. It's this internal battle na, ano pa 'yung gagawin ko, pero ang galing-galing talaga, hindi ko pwedeng palampasin," said Lea Salonga, the first one to turn her chair for Pavino.
Sarah Geronimo also admired Pavino's voice and skills.
"Napakalinis mong kumanta, saka 'yung control ng boses mo, 'yung hagod mo, dynamics, hindi pwedeng hindi ka...palagpasin, kasi talagang magaling kang bokalista," Geronimo said.
Bamboo, who was the second coach to turn his chair, joked that he only turned to make it difficult for the other coaches.
But while the rocker admitted Pavino's style is not what he is looking for, he is hoping he can guide him in other ways.
"Maybe I can give you something else. Think of what you can do with your instrument," Bamboo explained.
Pavino decided to choose Salonga, who was the winning coach of the very first season of the talent contest, when she guided Mitoy Yonting to victory.
