Anne Curtis Enjoys Working with John Lloyd Cruz in New Commercial Campaign.

Despite receiving flak for her involvement in a controversial slapping incident at a posh bar in Taguig just three months ago, things are looking up again for Anne Curtis.

Since apologizing immediately the morning after the incident even before it became public more a week after it took place last November, Anne has quickly endeared herself to the general public. Last January, ABS-CBN gave her a renewed vote of confidence when the network awarded her the coveted title role in a new teleserye remake of Mars Ravelo’s “Dyesebel”.

And just early this month, Anne hit another career milestone when her social media followers in Twitter reached the 6 million mark, proof that the popularity of the 29-year-old Filipino-Australian actress has not waned one bit. She also has over 1.5 million followers on Instagram.

It was announced this month that Anne is also nominated for Nickelodeon’s 27th Kids Choice Award in the Favorite Asian Act category together with GEM of China, Coboy Junior from Indonesia and Lisa Surihari from Malaysia. No Filipino act has yet to win in this particular category to date.

Now, in what is seen by many as a conciliatory gesture, Anne is currently working with actor John Lloyd Cruz, one of several personalities she reportedly slapped in that Privé bar incident, for this year’s edition of Century Tuna Superbods SuperChallenge.

To promote the campaign, Anne and John Lloyd recently filmed a TV commercial where the two are shown having a good time at the gym. One scene even has them running side by side at the treadmill.

“It was a fun shoot. We were joking around at the set during the shoot,” Anne told InterAksyon and other entertainment media during the recent press conference that launched the campaign.

“Anne has been with us at Century Tuna for the last three years so when we decided to get John Lloyd for this campaign, both of them said there is no problem because they are friends. During the commercial, we didn’t see any tension at all between them. They had a good time and they have good relations as far as we can tell,” Gela Gamboa, group product manager for Century Tuna, attested to InterAksyon.

Although John Lloyd was supposed to be in the press conference, his no-show initially prompted the media folks present to speculate as to why he wasn’t able to make it. Anne, however, assured everyone that the only reason why her fellow Kapamilya talent was not able to go was because he was still recovering from the injuries he sustained in a recent bicycle accident.

Although obviously guarded with her mostly brief answers, Anne gamely answered all other questions during the press conference. She admitted that just as she and John Lloyd are cool with each other, there’s also no animosity between her and his girlfriend, Angelica Panganiban.

As a matter of fact, Anne confirmed that she asked Angelica how John Lloyd was doing after learning about his bicycle accident.

As for rumors that “It’s Showtime” co-host Vhong Navarro will return to the show soon, Anne said she’s “not sure if he’s coming back but but he’s okay”.

Anne said she’s also very happy that two more of her “It’s Showtime” co-hosts, Vice Ganda and Karylle, have patched up their differences following a well-publicized rift that stemmed from the her fiance’s disapproval to the popular “ViceRylle” love team.

“You know, everyone has their ups and downs. What matters is how people go through them. Of course, hindi naman puwedeng pilitin yung dalawa kung ayaw nila. But I’m really glad they’re okay. It’s all in the right time naman,” she exclaimed.

As for John Lloyd’s commitment to transform from a regular guy to one blessed with a superbod in a matter of weeks, Anne is confident that the actor is very much capable of achieving this especially since his Superbods Diet and Workout Plan is designed by top nutritionist Nadine Tengco and fitness trainer Coach Jim Saret.

“Kaya ni JL yan and I’m looking forward to seeing him in Boracay on April 26,” she enthused.
Outside of the Century Tuna campaign, Anne and John Lloyd have never worked together in any film project. They were both in the cast of the Star Cinema trilogy “All About Love” in 2006 but were not paired together. Viva and Star Cinema are reportedly pairing them together in an upcoming movie project.
