MANILA -- Are they or aren't they?
Rumored sweethearts Paulo Avelino and KC Concepcion continued to keep the entertainment press guessing about their status.
In an interview after the press conference for their Christmas special "Exchange Gift," Concepcion said they don't want to put a label on their relationship, saying what is important is that she's there to "inspire" Avelino.
"Between us we know naman what we have and what we feel about each other. Ako honestly, ayaw ko siya ma-pressure for anything. I'm older than him by couple of years, ako siyempre may priorities na nagiiba. Mahirap to talk about serious relationship because he's also coming from different situation na iba din ang priorities niya, 'yun lang," she said.
"Kaya ayaw naming i-label kasi doon kami hindi nagmi-meet, to be honest. Kaya kapag sinasabing ganoon, ayaw naming sirain kung ano ang mayroon kami pero at the same time respeto ko bilang babae na ibigay ko sa kanya ang space to grow as a man.
"Katulad nang sinasabi ko nandito ako para i-improve ang buhay niya, 'di para maging liability," Concepcion added.
For his part, Avelino stressed that he and Concepcion are "best friends" who enjoying the time together.
"Actually hindi ko sasabihin na walang labeling," he said. "We are friends, best friends. We have this connection that we treasure now and yun siguro yun we have different priorities as individuals. Focus kami sa gusto namin at kailangan naming gawin."
Asked if he already passed the courting stage, Avelino said: "Me personally ayaw kong i-brand as ligaw kasi parang ang ganda ng mga nangyayari sa amin. It's more of what's happening, it's more of the connection, it's more of the kasiyahan namin na magkasama."
"Exchange Gift"
Meanwhile, Concepcion and Avelino explained why they finally agreed to work together on the upcoming ABS-CBN's Christmas special.
"First 'yung material, the material is really good. And it's a way for us to really give back sa fans kasi sila ang nag-request nito so pinagbigyan namin sila at nabigyan kami ng pagkakataon na mag-thank you para sa kanila," Avelino said.
"It's something fun to do dahil may mga fans na nagre-request na una lang naming nakilala sa Instagram and then suddenly sila na ang gumagawa ng way para magkaroon kami ng project together. And it worked! So congratulations sa fans namin," Concepcion said.
The two admitted that they felt awkward doing scenes together.
"Nandoon kami sa actors at serious siya sa acting at kahit paano may seriousness din ako sa acting so coming together, unexpected
'yung project. We have to adjust from friends to co-workers," Concepcion said.
"Ako hindi naman awkward pero kapag nakaka-eksena ko si KC nakakalimutan ko ang lines ko. Napapatitig na lang ako," Avelino said.
