In an interview on "Tapatan Ni Tunying" aired Thursday, the Green
Archers cager revealed the reason why he turned down several acting
offers.
"May mga offers na mag-try ako mag-acting pero siyempre, alam ko 'yung priorities ko. Alam kong may commitment ako sa school. Kaya may iba tinatanggihan talaga namin dahil alam ko kung ano 'yung uunahin ko," he said.
Teng is currently pursuing a double degree in business management and behavioral sciences. He is also a crucial part of the La Salle's men's basketball team, averaging 17 points and 3 assists during the recent season of the UAAP.
Prodded further on whether he would consider pursuing a career in acting, he said that he would prefer to become a television host. Teng quipped: "Camera shy kasi ako eh."
In addition to several television guest appearances, Teng also had a brief role on the hit primetime series "Got To Believe," which starred teen stars Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo. Former basketball star-turned-actor Benjie Paras also featured in the series.
For Teng, however, the focus remains solely on his basketball career. He said: "Sa La Salle, gusto ko lang magbigay nang as much championship as I can. Individually, gusto ko lang mag-improve for me to reach the next level --'yung PBA."
He even took in stride several questions regarding the status of his relationship with actress and "Pinoy Big Brother" finalist Jane Oineza, which he is romantically linked with.
"Friends kami ngayon. Lagi lang kami naguusap. Minsan sa gabi pag walang ginagawa, tumatawag ako. Minsan kasi hindi ako makatulog," Teng said.
Quizzed about why he developed a liking towards Oineza, he explained: "Yung nag-guest ako dati sa ASAP, ayun nakita ko nga na maganda. Tapos kung magsalita siya, parang alam mo na mabait din."
