A young man proved that original Pilipino music (OPM) is very much alive as he became a four-chair turner on the second season of 'The Voice of the Philippines".
Rence Lee Rapanot, 21, said he joined because of his love for his family, and for OPM.
Singing Dong Abay's "Mateo Singko", Rapanot wowed all the coaches with his voice, and with the way he sang the song.
Why can't we have someone who just speaks with his heart. Sinasabi mo, you want to champion OPM, you have four champions of OPM here to support you, man.
Wala pa kaming na-meet tulad mo," Lea Salonga said.
Apl.de.ap, in an attempt to convince Rapanot to join his team, even called his bestfriend and fellow "Black Eyed Peas" member will.i.am on his phone.
"You made everyone proud in this room today, and you did represent OPM music. So sana, choose me," apl.de.ap told Rapanot.
Rapanot eventually chose to be part of Team Bamboo, joining Kai Honasan, Karlo Mojica and rocker Tanya Diaz.
