“Sana ‘wag na natin palakihin. There are other issues na kailangan nating tuonan ng pansin. Let’s move on.”
This was how actor Richard Gomez addressed the issues surrounding the racy Bench fashion show held last month at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
After a press conference for the actor’s movie “The Janitor” today, October 1, he was asked for his take on the negative comments being thrown at “The Naked Truth.”
“Ito, this is my opinion, alam naman natin na malapit na ang eleksyon so ‘yung mga party list groups, sila ‘yung mga maiingay [na] naghahanap ng issue. Ganoon lang kasimple ‘yun.”
When he was asked if he found any malice in the production, he answered, “Wala. It’s a show, ‘di ba?... It’s a show, it’s a circus, it’s a movie.”
He showed further support for the brand adding:
“Sana ito na ‘yung maging end ng issue na ‘yun… Bench is a good brand. Bench is very helpful to a lot of people. Bench is one of the biggest in the fashion industry. Bench is doing this for us.”
When asked if he would have done the controversial act performed by actor Coco Martin during the show, “Gagawin ko rin.”
Richard was also questioned whether Bench owner Ben Chan should apologize or not regarding the matter.
“Dapat hindi siya magsorry,” he said. “Walang dapat magsorry. Maraming mga importanteng bagay na dapat nating bigyan ng focus. ‘Eto, ineentertain nila tayo. Pinapakita nila ano ba ‘yung fashion for the coming season. ‘Yun lang ‘yun.”
Richard stars in this year’s most awarded Cinemalaya film “The Janitor,” alongside Dennis Trillo.
Distributed by Star Cinema, the film is set to return to the big screen on October 8.
