Three of the country’s most sought-after comediennes, K Brosas,
Kitkat and Cacai Bautista, are combining both their comic and singing
talents to give the rising stars of TV5’s new weekly musical comedy
series a good run for their money.
“Ang goal namin dito ay mapatumba at masira ang buhay ng tatlong Trenderas. So abangan nila ang pagwasak ko ng mukha ni Suklay Diva,” Cacai declared in a recent interview with InterAksyon and News5.
“Kami ang mang-uurat sa mga Trenderas kaya Tres Malditas ang tawag sa amin. Pero kahit nagma-maldita kami sa show, magagaling naman kaming kumanta,” added Kitkat.
“Yes, may basihan naman ang pagiging maldita at kaya din naming makipagsabayan sa mga Trenderas,” K further weighed in.
The Trenderas, of course, are none other Lara Maigue, Isabelle de Leon and, as mentioned by Cacai, Katrina Velarde a.k.a. Suklay Diva. In the new show’s ongoing storyline, the Tres Malditas will emerge as the fiercest rivals of the Trenderas in a singing competition which they hope will be the first step to realize their dreams of becoming famous singers.
The three ladies admit that while their quick-witted nature as well as underrated singing abilities are showcased on the show, it also entails a lot of hard work.
“Masyado kaming abala sa show na ito kasi bago pa lang mag-taping, magre-recording na kami ng kanta then may practice pa ng sayaw,” Kitkat revealed.
“Hindi ito basta kakanta na lang kami. May mga production numbers. Talagang pinag-isipan at pinaghandaan,” K noted.
“Dahil musical ang treatment ng show, ang pagkakasama sa amin dito ay para magbigay talaga ng flavor. Hindi talaga maiiwasan eh kasi bukod sa malditas na kami magaganda pa,” Cacai wisecracked.
For sure, it was not easy casting these three talented veterans in one show, let alone getting them together in one room.
In addition to also being a mainstay of the Saturday game show, “Quiet Please: Bawal ang Maingay”, K remains a hot attraction on the live circuit where she mixes both comedy and music in shows both here and abroad.
Cacai recently finished a grueling but very rewarding run in the PETA musical, “Rak of Aegis”. And Kitkat continues her stand-up comedy gigs at Punchline and Laffline where she performs regularly.
As to what else people can expect from them from “Trenderas”, the three echoed what the Trenderas earlier said about highlighting classic OPM hits.
In the show’s special one hour pilot episode this Saturday, September 13, viewers will be treated to an all-out musical spectacle featuring the music of OPM icons Eraserheads, Apo Hiking Society, Aegis, Dulce, Kuh Ledesma and Itchyworms.
Award-winning OPM artists Ogie Alcasid, Cooky Chua and former Eraserheads member Raimund Marasigan will also appear as special guest stars during the episode.
As for the Trenderas, they’ll definitely try to steal every scene they’re in. In a not-so-subtle dig at K’s other show, Kitkat and Cacai are asking viewers to watch “Trenderas” in a rather unusual way.
“Kung gusto nyo ng tahimik, manood kayo ng ‘Quiet Please’ pero kung gusto nyo naman ng maingay, ‘Trenderas’ and panoorin niyo,” Cacai quipped.
“Dito magagawa ni K sa ‘Trenderas’ ang hindi niya kayang gawin sa ‘Quiet Please’,” Kitkat promised with a wink.
Also starring Ara Mina, Dingdong Avanzado, Leo Martinez, Arnell Ignacio, Tina Paner, Francine Prieto, Carl Guevarra, Edward Mendez and Ms. Nora Aunor in a very special role, “Trenderas” premieres on TV5 this Saturday, September 13, at 9PM.
Watch the Tres Malditas put their own upbeat twist on Dulce’s signature power ballad, “Ako ang Nagwagi, Ako ang Nasawi” in this audition scene from “Trenderas”.
