Thousands of runners from nine different cities in Luzon gathered to
join ABS-CBN Regional Network Group’ first-ever simultaneous run dubbed
as “One Kapamilya Run” (OKR), which aims to address environmental concerns in their respective communities.
As early as 5 AM, almost 5,000 runners from across the country participated in the OKR-Luzon, which was simultaneously conducted in the cities of Dagupan (Pangasinan), Baguio (Benguet), Clark Airfield, Angeles (Pampanga), Santiago (Isabela), Laoag (Ilocos Norte), Batangas (Batangas), Puerto Princesa (Palawan), Naga (Camarines Sur) and Legazpi (Albay).
According to ABS-CBN RNG Luzon Public Service Officer Terry Aquino-Pedrocha, OKR is more than just promoting health and wellness among participating runners.
“OKR also uplifts the spirit of social responsibility, sportsmanship, unity and camaraderie among all stakeholders,” she said.
Pedrocha also added that the event has a thrust to help alleviate the conditions of our fellowmen in the areas of education, health, and environment among others.
Prior to the run, other fun activities were also held for the runners like Zumba and other different warm-up exercises. Local TV and radio personalities from ABS-CBN Regional Network Group also joined the run.
With the success of the event, ABS-CBN Regional Network Group Luzon Cluster OIC, Gemma Q. Cacas affirmed that plans of institutionalizing the ‘OKR’ activity are underway.
