Despite expressing an interest to be a public servant in past
interviews, Kris Aquino has decided not to run for a government position
in the 2016 national elections.
For quite a
while now, the Queen of All Media was being prodded to join politics and
Kris even revealed that she was mulling about taking a mayoralty or
gubernatorial spot ideally in Tarlac. However, she had stressed that she
would have to get her family’s permission first before she enters the
political scene.
During her recent contract signing inside the ABS-CBN compound though, the Kris TV host
shared that most of her family, consisting of her three older sisters
and her only brother, President Noynoy Aquino, did not approve of her
running for office. “We’ve talked about it with my family and with
exception of one sister, everybody said ‘wag. Including my brother,” she
revealed.
While she’s well aware of the fact that “It’s something na siyempre nasa dugo” Kris maintained that “ayokong ipilit kung sa pakiramdam naman nila [eh hindi dapat].”
According to Kris, her siblings’ main concern was the welfare of her two sons Josh and Bimby. “Ang main point kasi nila
is that my responsibility for my sons. It’s not like I have a partner
in life who can step in and it’s because Bimb is only six-years-old so
by the time 2016 rolls around he’ll only be turning nine and parang those are the years na dapat tutukan mo talaga,” said the award-winning host.
Kris has decided to redirect her attention on her business ventures. “Ang mga future plans ko, apart from this, is we’re planning to expand my transportation business, the one I’m in with Luis Manzano. And then meron akong balak in terms of food naman. Siguro mas babagay siguro na pagkatapos ng entertainment susubukan kong maging negosyante,” she related.
