14 Ways For Your Man To Smell Great All the Time.

"Studies have revealed that a man's sense of smell isn't as heightened as a woman's, which is why they can't tell when they smell badly or not," Dr. Alan Hirsch, M.D. F.A.C.P. the founder and neurological director of the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago, says. Here, 14 things to make him do so he smells good.

1. Tell him to shower every single day with an antibacterial wash.

Men have more sweat glands that are larger than women's, so they sweat more overall. Also, "someone who is under intense emotional stress, like a stock broker, can sweat just as much as someone who works out," Hirsch says. And since sweat mixes with skin bacteria, increasing your body's natural aroma, it's not only important to shower daily, but to also use an antibacterial cleanser.

2. Tell him to wear an antiperspirant deodorant.

An antiperspirant includes aluminium salts that dissolve into sweat, forming a gel that creates a temporary plug near the top of the sweat gland. This is what helps reduce the amount of sweat that is secreted to the skin surface, preventing it from mixing with the bacteria on your body, which smells.

3. Sprinkle baby powder over—and alongside—his package.

"You have apocrine sweat glands under your arms and around your genitalia that produce high density steroids that are linked with emotional sweating, induced by anxiety, stress, fear, sexual stimulation, and pain," Hirsch says. "And when the natural steroids are released, an oily and eventually smelly substance that serves as a pheromone is also secreted." This smells. Keep it under control by using an antiperspirant deodorant for the armpits and sprinkling baby powder around his junk.

4. Spray his bare torso with fragrance.

"Spraying perfume over your torso and on your pulse points, like your neck and wrists, offers added benefit, because a certain amount of heat is generated in these areas," says Mark Knitowski, vice president of product innovation and fragrance for Victoria's Secret. "So when your guy gets close to you or if you're curled up next to him, when things heat up, he'll give off more of his signature scent."

5. Tell him not to rub his wrists together after applying cologne to get the full benefit of the scent.

"As you're spraying your cologne on your pulse points, when you get to your wrists, whatever you do, don't rub them together to transfer the scent because this will make the top note disappear quickly, leaving you with only the middle and base notes, rather than the full fragrance," Knitowski says. It will still smell good, but in order to get the full benefit of the spritz, don't rub.

6. Have him use hair product with a subtle scent.

But not one that's too sticky, since you probably love running your fingers through his hair.

7. Tell him to avoid garlic and other pungent seasonings.

"Since men have more sweat glands that are not only larger but more developed, there is a higher chance of him sweating the scent of foods like garlic and curry out through his pores," Hirsch says. Apparently the same can happen with alcohol so don't get him too drunk.

8. Encourage him to drink green tea to minimize bacteria in his mouth.
Obviously you need to brush and floss regularly to keep your mouth smelling and tasting great, but "drinking a liquid like green tea daily can also help alkalize the mouth, reducing the amount of bacteria in it," Hirsch adds.

9. Give him gum to combat dry mouth.

"Bad breath comes from dry mouth," Michael Apa, DDS, a cosmetic dentist in NYC, says. "And if you have low salivary flow, you can't produce enough saliva to rinse away bacteria. So, to stimulate your salivary glands, chew sugarless gum with xylitol for fresher-smelling breath." If the problem persists, talk to your dentist.

10. Don't keep alcohol-containing mouthwash around for him.

"Alcohol dries out your mouth and minimizes your salivary flow (which could lead to dry mouth!), meaning it can actually cause bad breath," Apa says. "Instead, swish around an alcohol-free rinse which will keep your breath smelling the best."

11. Don't go out with him to eat foods that might give him gas or cause him to burp.
Think chorizo, hot dogs, burgers, etc. These types of foods may result in indigestion and therefore cause you to have gas, which will definitely result in smelliness.

12. Tell him to wear a white tee as a buffer under his dress shirt.
When he's getting dressed in the morning and has to meet you after work, tell him to wear a white tee underneath whatever shirt he plans to wear later that night. The white tee will act as a buffer, absorbing any stench from his armpits that may crop up during the day. Then, before he meets up with you, he should just reapply his antiperspirant and boom: fresh as a daisy.

13. Keeping the smell of your sneakers/dress shoes at bay with a dryer sheet.
Next time he's doing the laundry, make him pop a dryer sheet into each shoe to mask the smell. Also, if he wears any kind of shoes without socks, tell him to sprinkle baby powder into them or on his feet before putting on his shoes. This will keep both his shoes and feet from smelling terrible.

14. Tell him to change his sheets every other week at minimum.
He might not shower everyday and the dirt on his body will transfer onto his (or your) bedding. Also, to freshen your sheets after the first week (or before you sleep over). In between washing you can lightly spray them with a cucumber-scented linen/bedding spray. "Past studies show that the aroma of cucumber on a man enhances the vaginal blood flow," Hirsch says.
