La Salle forward Jeron Teng offered no excuses for his miserable
game after the Green Archers lost to Far Eastern University (FEU),
60-65, Sunday in their playoff game in the UAAP Season 77 men's
basketball tournament.
Teng, coming off a case of mild dengue as well as an appearance in a fashion show on Saturday night, scored only eight points and made only two of 11 field goals in the loss.
He did grab eight rebounds, but also turned the ball over five times and fouled out late in the final period after committing an unsportsmanlike foul against FEU guard Mike Tolomia.
"Ano lang, no excuse ako," Teng said after the game. "Medyo wala pa ako sa timing."
Teng, however, stressed that he was at 100% after being hospitalized last week - along with older brother Jeric - due to dengue. "Wala na, wala na akong lagnat. 100% na ako," he said.
The loss was a costly one for La Salle, as they will have to win two straight games against FEU to make it back to the Finals.
Asked about his participation at a fashion show Saturday night, Teng said: "Siyempre, pag talo lahat sasabihin eh. Pero tatanggapin ko na lang ang sasabihin nila."
Arnold Van Opstal, another La Salle player who participated at last night's fashion show, had seven points and eight rebounds, but committed seven turnovers. He and Teng combined for 12 of the Archers' 20 turnovers.
Teng will still have a chance to bounce back when La Salle faces FEU for the fourth time this season on Saturday, a game which sees the Archers' season on the line.
"Blessed lang kami kasi we have a chance to prove ourselves," Teng said.
