A Man Asked His Fans If Being Gay Was A Choice And The Responses Brought Him To Tears
We were saddened and horrified to report a story about the abuse 19-year-old Daniel Pearce from Georgia suffered at the hands of his parents when he came out to them as gay.
The story was reported all over the Internet and went viral. Since
then, there’s been an outpouring of support for the LGBTQ community.
Chris Thompson, a straight, Californian vlogger, decided to show his support through a video of his own.
He asked his followers on social media — many of whom are part of the LGBTQ community — a simple question:
If you could choose to be gay or straight, what would you choose?
Here are some of the responses Thompson received. You can find them all on his Facebook account:
As you’ll see in the video, the honesty and bravery of his followers’ replies moved Thompson to tears.
He then asked,
Do you feel like being gay is a choice?
He ends his video with a bit of food for thought:
The thing is, we can’t fix it. We can just do better for
ourselves, and do better as a community, and educate as many people as
you can, which is the point of a video like this.
In the bio section on the YouTube video, Thompson included a helpful link to a website for those in situations similar to Daniel Pearce’s.
