Love is indeed lovelier the second time around, especially when it leads all the way to the altar.
That has been the case with 69-year-old actress Boots Anson-Roa who tied the knot with 75-year-old international lawyer King Rodrigo at the Villa San Miguel chapel at the Archbishop’s Palace in Mandaluyong City last Saturday, June 14.
It was the second trip to the altar for both bride and groom, whose respective first spouses had passed away several years ago. They had met while still in high school but did not fall in love until they recently reconnected. They announced their engagement last year.
Officiating the wedding rites, which coincided with the groom’s birthday, was no less than Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle. The Filipiniana-themed wedding was attended by around 200 guests that included principal sponsors Ms. Susan Roces, Marichu Vera Perez-Maceda and Manila mayor and former President Joseph Estrada, the bride’s favorite leading man.
During the reception that followed at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club, singer-songwriter Jose Mari Chan serenaded the newlyweds during their first dance. Pilita Corales, Jose Mari Chan, Ricky Davao and Willie Nepomuceno also performed.
