pageants, has picked Binibining Pilipinas-International 2013 Bea Rose
Santiago as among its “Hot Picks” to win the 2013 Miss International beauty pageant.
The 22-year-old morena stunner from Masbate, Bicol has been consistently ranked in the site’s Top 15 choices for several months and was even ranked No. 1 last August. She is currently ranked No. 3 behind No. 2 Miss Iceland Sigrún Eva Ármannsdóttir and No. 1 Miss Venezuela Elian Herrera.
“She is gaining momentum once again after her country’s successful
run at the Miss Universe 2013 pageant this month. Her countrymen will
definitely support and root for this amazing stunner in the coming weeks
leading to the start of the pageant activities,” the site posted about
Bea.
Following the title-winning runs of Miss World 2013 Megan Young and Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Johanna Datul as well as the impressive 3rd runner-up finish of Ariella Arida in the recently concluded Miss Universe pageant, Bea is also expected to figure prominently in her Miss International campaign.
Raised by her grandparents, Bea spent most of her teenage years in Canada after her family migrated there when she was 15. Prior to joining beauty pageants, she was a former fashion model and was the only Filipina signed by the prestigious Elite Model Management which has produced the likes of Cindy Crawford, Giselle Bundchen, Stephanie Seymour and Adriana Lima.
She started her run of beauty pageants in 2011, winning the Mutya ng Pilipinas Overseas Communities title that year and represented the Philippines in Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International 2012 where she finished among the Top 10 semifinalists.
Along with Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss Earth, Miss
International is regarded as one of the Big Four international beauty
pageants. Since it was first organized in 1960, the Philippines has won
the crown four times and is the second winningest country in the
pageant’s history after beauty contest powerhouse Venezuela, which has six.
The last time the Philippines won the title, however, was in 2005 when the country was represented by Precious Lara Quigaman. Venezuela has won four Miss International titles since the year 2000, the most recent of which was in 2010 when Elizabeth Mosquera took home the crown.
Miss International 2013 will take place on December 17 at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel Hall in Tokyo, Japan. The reigning Miss International is Ikumi Yoshimatsu of Japan.
