As part of its “Glamfest” campaign, lifestyle television cable network
Colours will air five of the much-awaited annual television events in
the next two months, ending the year on a high note and starting 2014
with a big bang.
This was recently announced during a media briefing by Guido Zaballero, vice president for marketing of DTH satellite provider where Colours airs is one of the exclusive channels.
Zaballero said Glamfest already kicked off last November 25 when it aired the 41st American Music Awards live as it happened at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Those who missed the initial telecast can still catch the replay airings for this month starting this Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7, also on Colours.
In addition to being a star-studded affair where Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, Rihanna and One Direction emerged as big winners, this year’s AMA was also highlighted by memorable performances from Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera and Miley Cyrus.
On December 19, Colours will air the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show that will take place at New York’s Lexington Avenue Armory. Showcasing Victoria’s Secret latest collection of sought-after lingerie and sleepwear, this year’s edition will showcase the world-famous Victoria’s Secret Angels which include Adriana Lima, Lily Aldridge and Alessandra Ambrosio and Candice Swanepoel, who will parade the Royal Fantasy bra worth US$10 million.
The show will also feature live performances from Taylor Swift, Fall Out Boy, Neon Jungle and A Great Big World. Expect the special to have several replays after its initial airing.
On January 13 (January 12, US West Coast time), the best of film and television during the previous year will be given due recognition as Colours airs the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards live from 9AM to 12NN.
Honoring both TV and motion picture achievements, the annual awards are presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and the awards show is viewed in more than 160 countries worldwide. Regarded as a precursor to the Oscars, the nominees for the Golden Globes will be announced on December 12.
This will be followed by the live airing of the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on January 19 (January 18, US West Coast time). Nominations for the coming awards, which are given in recognition of outstanding performances in both film and television, are also yet to be announced but will finally be known this December 11. The SAG Awards is also considered as another prelude to the Oscars.
Not to be outdone by film and TV is, of course, the equally vibrant music industry as Colours airs the 56th Annual Grammy Awards live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles (January 26, US West Coast time). Honoring the best recordings in the US from the past year, the nominees for this year will be announced this December 6.
But what makes this edition of the Grammys extra-special is that a special segment of the show will be devoted to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the arrival of The Beatles in America in 1964. That segment alone should make the Grammys worthy of being dubbed as music’s biggest night.
What about Hollywood’s biggest night? Zaballero has confirmed that, yes, Cignal is working to bring the 86th Annual Academy Awards to Colours and will make an announcement as soon as the airing of the Oscars on their lifestyle channel becomes official.
Colours is available on Cignal channel 27 on SD and channel 101 in HD and in more than 70 cable operators nationwide.
