Straight from their Anna KareNina mall show in Gen San, actress Krystal Reyes celebrated her 17th birthday
happily as she spent a day with the orphans of Bethany House Sto. Niño
Orphanage in Guiguinto, Bulacan last September 8.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) was invited to this heartfelt celebration.
The young actress who plays “Anna” was inspired to celebrate it with real kids who don’t have parents because of her role being one of the three adopted orphans in the TV show.
“Kasi po diba nga po yung sa Anna KareNina, naghahanap po sila ng nanay. Tapos diba parang sobrang hirap ng mga pinag-dadaanan nilang maghanap ng nanay.
“And yun nga, yung naisip ko na yung mga bata dito, sila yung talagang nawawalan ng nanay. Kung paano sila magiging masaya, ganyan.
“Kaya naisip ko na dito baka sakali, ‘pag dito po ko nagcelebrate ng birthday, mapasaya ko po sila.”
SELFLESS AT SEVENTEEN. Often times, kids who turn 17 celebrate their birthdays with friends and families only, have a party or ask for other things. So when the birthday girl was asked why she preferred to throw a charity party instead of the usual celebrations, she explained:
“Kasi po, parang naisip ko na kapag magse-celebrate ako ng birthday ko na ako lang, na kasama yung family ko, kami lang yung masaya. Pero naisip ko po na dito gawin para kahit papano yung mga bata makikipag-saya rin sila sa araw din ng birthday ko.
“Tapos kanina may lumapit pa sa ’kin [na] bata na birthday niya rin daw today. Kaya ayun po, yun po yung napili kong paraan para mag-celebrate ng birthday.”
She also shared that it was her first time to throw a birthday party in an orphanage and how sentimental it was for her family.
“Opo, first time ko po. Ngayon ko pa lang ‘to ginawa na mag-celebrate kasama yung [mga taga] bahay ampunan.
“At ano rin po kasi, itong ampunan po kasing ito, malapit po ito sa lolo ko kaya ito po yung pinili ko. Yung lolo ko po kasi nagta-trabaho po siya dun sa mga madre po, yung sa mga namamahala sa ampunan.”
SURPRISE, SURPRISE! Just when the celebrant thought she had surprised the orphans, her co-star and friend, Joyce Ching, surprised her too when she came to the party. Shortly after they landed in Manila, Joyce went to Bulacan as well.
“Meron pala ‘kong bonggang bonggang bonggang surprise! Mag-kasama po kasi kami ni Joyce sa Gen San.
“Ang sabi niya meron pa daw siyang lakad so hindi siya makaka-punta. Nagulat ako may sumisigaw. ‘Yun pala andito siya. So ‘yun po naiyak kami.”
BIRTHDAY WISHES. Happy that she was able to surprise her friend, Joyce teasingly wishes:
“Sana po tumangkad pa siya at sana pumayat siya, at sana siya ang tunay na Anna Karenina.”
But sincerely, she wishes for her good friend’s blessings and happiness.
