LA Tenorio led the Gin Kings in a shootout with the Texters,
virtually sealing the game with his layup and-one play to push the lead
back to 10, 108-98, with under a minute remaining. Tenorio finished with
24 points, 10 assists and 6 boards for the best player honors.
Barangay Ginebra completed the quarterfinals matchup by beating Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters, 110-102, in the do-or-die game for 8th spot of the 2013 PBA Governors Cup on Tuesday.
Ginebra’s floor general also had plenty of help in this one. Rookie Chris Ellis came out with his best game so far with 19 points and 12 big rebounds for the Gin Kings, and import Dior Lowhorn was brilliant all game long with 31 points.
The Gin Kings led as much as 21 points at the start of the third quarter, 70-49, before the Texters made a furious run led by their import Courtney Fells. He scored 19 points in the period to cut the lead to 87-78 entering the fourth quarter.
In the final frame, Talk ‘N Text continued their push by riding the hot hands of Larry Fonacier to make it 101-97 with 3:43 left in the game. But Tenorio’s five straight points ended the Texters’ season.
Fonacier topscored with 31 points for Talk ‘N Text in a defeat.
